man a youngy i'd need someone to re-phrase the request for information
If your laptop is equipped with a modem, you can hook the modem into a phone smudge and use a dial-up connection to connect to the internet. You would want to sign up for a dial-up connection and find out what number the computer would hold to dial.
When I traveled to TN from OH I had my laptop. I used the phone splash in the hotel room and call my ISP to get the local number. I have to give up speed for the weekend but still have a connection atleast. Hope this atleast give you an option. I'm 28 though so you may want to hang about for a younger respondant.

From one oldie to another...
Your best bet is to set up a dial-up nouns before you stir to the another location.
Using WinXP...
Start/Settings/Control Panel/Internet Options
Then click Connections tab, and Add a dial-up connection.
I'd suggest picking an ISP that's free to register beside, and has an 0845 local rate (1p a minute?) dial-up number. There's plenty to choose from.
Orange do one too... http://www.ginger.co.uk/time/dialup/...
Then all you call for to do is plug your laptop into the phone line, and dial-up.
From one oldie to another, regardless of broadband connections etc. it is advisable to own a dial up connection to your ISP to hold it available in emergency like no broadband available.
My broadband is from BT and I hold a dial up connection that I have from Orange for some time before getting broadband, and I can access to use it contained by case my BT router develops a scorn.
