1080p clarity?

Question:
how much different is the picture on a lcd screen when it is of 1080 a bit than 720?

Answers:
About 30% better. But only if you own a larger screen competent of 1080p. Check the "native resolution" of your eyeshade. It may be less. If that be the case, you wouldn't see any difference.
It's difficult to describe, it does seem to be clearer in a mode, but not so you can put your finger on it. I've only played my xbox and my PC through my HD monitor at that talent, but not any films or TV, so I don't know if that would show the difference more clearly. I construe there is also 1080i, though just really expensive TVs and monitors run at that rate and even then there's zilch to play through it at that rate yet!
The true answer is you can't put in the picture unless their side by side, 1080P is the compression mode so is the 1080I most of us using monitors have enjoy the hi def for a long time anyway, best thing to do is walk to a TV shop and look. They are still battling out which one will win out 1080i or 1080P I believe the 1080P will win because of the compression style, more info than the 1080I I don't know exactly how it works I'm not a TV man, but own a HI Def video Cam wireless and it make a difference, that's another subject all together. I enjoy an ATI rage pro that have the Hi-def video and with a roomy screen monitor here is a big difference, but een that is different than the 1080P. Hope this help with what the others added on here.
If you're looking to buy, I don't mull over its worth spending thousands more for the 1080p TV. As for 1080i, the difference is that it "interlaces" - it only have 1/2 the screen at any given time, but it go back and forth between lines 60 times a second so it make 1 image. As you can see, then for games and hasty action movies and such it would be better to own a 1080p TV or a 720p.
However, I bought a 1080p TV (37" Westinghouse, $800 bucks after Thanksgiving :D) and I must say I am dazzle by the clarity. Especially when playing Gears of War on the 360. Its earthshattering. TV's will always be an investment. Will you want to buy another TV surrounded by 2-3 years when Blu-Ray and HD-DVD become affordable and then the 1080p matter?
...i'm getting off substructure. Its tough to tell. But so far, i've never be disappointed with any one.

1080 P is a way different picture than a 720, but remember a 1080 P comes when you hold HDTV, a lcd screen can own 1080 P but it doesnt show it. But, yes it is very different and the picture is track better.
Much much better. You have to own an HD source, of course, i.e. If you enjoy the video signal coming from an HD gaming console, Cable, HD DVD/Blu-ray, etc. If you don't have a device powerful of 1080 output, then it shouldn't really build any difference.
