42" 1080p LCD or 50" 720p Plasma?
Question: Will the bigger screen and beter contrast & brightness of the Samsung PS50Q7HD out weigh the complex pixel count and lower power requirements of the Toshiba 42WLT66?
And does the risk of burn in on the plasma during gaming sessions out weigh the risk of pixel destruction on the LCD?
Answers:
I think you really parsimonious 1080i or 720p. You cannot get 1080p scan sets in the HD Forum standard.
They're not variants of equal thing and it isn't an either/or choice. An HD specification tube will be capable of resolving both scan standards.
These niggly terminology things are significant so it's worth getting it right or you'll back up as knowlegable as some of the other answerers (or someone working in Dixon's/Currys Digital).
Buying a investigational expensive tv should not be taken as lightly as some of the answerers appear to think.
Pixel passing on an LCD is an almost vanishing small possibility in this day and age; but screen burn on a plasma is still possible and would distress you for ever if it happen.
I understand that modern plasma sets are smaller amount prone to it than those of a few years ago, but it's still a risk.
It's not just gaming sessions that can burn, it's those bloody logos that broadcasters hang on to on the screen. These are enormously nasty things because in that is always something fixed on the peak at a similar spot whatever bridge (except 1 to 5) that you're watching.
As for choosing between the tellys, you'll have to compare them 1 to 1 and also consider how it will fit (and look) within your home.
Don't forget the compare the sound see - lots of audio Watts doesn't necessarily mean virtuous quality nouns at normal listen volumes (some of the high power sets in reality have crappy loudspeakers and nouns horrible when wound up).
Does a difference in daily video specification make any authentic difference when you're watching it? Remember that a brightly lit shop is not comparable to your living room environment.
A big screen may appear like a virtuous idea surrounded by the shop but when you put it in place it might be out of proportion near the room and upset your other half. Also, the styling around the eyeshade should be considered for the same drive.
Are there ample scarts/HDMI connectors for your accessories (current and adjectives aquisitions)? Most only hold 2 AV inputs.
Finally, compare the guarantees. The reliablity of each should be outstandingly good anyway but other look for a little extra that one may bestow over the other.
LCD everytime.
plasma's eat your electricity, so LCD
i would be in motion with the 1080p because its more adjectives proof than 720p but if you have money to burn jump with a bigger blind .. you only hold to worry just about burn in if you go away the same picture on the blind for a while
Go for the 42'' 1080p LCD because the 720p is really getting dated with adjectives of the gaming and HD-DVD and Blu-Ray it wont look as good .
1080p is superior not to mention LCD is better for gaming. Get the 42".
the samsungs be designed for gaming giving you superior effects etc, i used to work in the electrical trade and my husband be a tv engineer, we be also told that plasma have also indistinguishable life expectation as lcd not similar to they used to be.
42" 1080p LCD
Toshiba makes a 1080p plasma within a 50" I believe.
Quality wize, toshiba is way better. Samsung is a POJ.
Bigger eyeshade the more resolution youd want.
LCD over Plasma.
1080P over 720P.
But don't buy a Toshiba!! Do some research on the Web. The Toshiba's are full of problems, and based on my experience next to a Toshiba laptop, I would never buy one!
It will cost you a few bucks more, but the Sony is far and away the absolute best!!
