All phones do that, at least possible all d one's I've have. No I don't think you can turn it past its sell-by date. Although I've never tried.

i have the same fone and from what i gather it was the just way it worked x
yes click the stale button
All Phones do that.. You just enjoy to periodically clear it out yourself.. but I have a RAZR and I own it set to clear every couple of days or after so many msgs own been sent.. whichever comes first.. check into it.. when adjectives else fails take hold of that manual.. if you still enjoy it..
I doubt it but you can delete messages from your outbox can't you? And usually there's some option where on earth you can delete all messages within your outbox in one dance - there is on my phone. So it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
i get a razr and u can. push the message button. then press the top middle push button and go to outbox setup.
everyphone does this its not something u can turn rotten
I have only just upgraded to a krzr k1 from a v3 and there is no method to turn it off as others hold said but if you go into messages next press the middle button which will take you into the "Msg Centre Menu" next scroll down to "Outbox Setup" and press the centre button which will rob you to "Cleanup" then scroll down to "Custom" press the nucleus button then set it to "1" "Msg" press "Done" after press "Done" again at the screen after. Then press the "red/call end" button and you shouldn't hold as many messages save in your outbox it will automatically "cleanup" after one message, however, I find the reality that it does save them to my outbox as you are competent to see what the "message status" is so you know it has definately be sent and if not you can other have the likelihood of sending it again.
Hope this helps!!
