4 regions of the spine and their functions?
Question: please if anyone know the answer reply thank you
Answers:
The spine has four regions. Starting next to the neck and progressing down to the pelvis, the regions are the CERVICAL REGION , the THORACIC REGION, THE LUMBAR REGION, and the SACRAL REGION. All of these regions work together to provide support and stability for much of the immensity of the upper body. Each bony level have a passage that forms a tunnel for the spinal cord, thus protecting the spinal cord as it extends downward from the brain.
While the spine provides protection and support, its design also allows you to bend, verbs, rotate, and otherwise move your upper body in every direction. The bones themselves do not in actual fact bend or twist; the flexibility of the spine comes from structures between the bones call facet joints and intervertebral disks
Hope that help!!
Have a wonderful day!!
Best wishes!!
Cervical, thoracic, lumbar & sacral are the 4 regions.
Functions of the spine - support, articulation (movement) pretection (of the spinal cord) attachment (of other structures)
sometimes coccyx is also counted.
The 4 regions of the spine are :
1. Cervical
2. Thoracic
3. Lumbar
4. Sacral
The fully fledged vertebral (spinal) column consists of 26 bones that are grouped as follows:
7 cervical vertebrae in the collar
12 thoracic vertebrae that articulate with the 12 pairs of ribs
5 lumbar vertebrae of the lower rear legs
1 sacrum which is actually a fusion of 5 sacral vertebrae (fusion occur from late teens to precipitate 20's)
1 coccyx or "tailbone" which is a fusion of 4 coccygeal vertebrae.
The spine, or backbone, has a few functions. It supports the head, make the upper body flexible, helps to support the body's substance and protects the spinal cord.
The spine is a column made up of 33 bones called vertebrae, which are connected by joint. Between individual vertebrae are discs of fibrous tissue, called intervertebral discs, which abet to make the spine flexible and cushion it from jolts. Muscles and ligaments attached to the vertebae stabilise the spine and control the movement of the wager on.
Cervical (neck)=7 bones
thoracic (chest)=12 bones
Lumber (lower back)=5 bones
Sacrum =5 fused bones
Coccyx (once our tail)=4 fused bones
