10 month frail colt - teething?

Question:
We just get a 10 month old colt, and he seem to be kinda sore on one side of his mouth - he is rubbing it on his hay net and on anything else he can find, profusely more than the other side. We were wondering if anyone know whether he is just teething generally or if there could be something wrong that he desires to see the dentist for?

Answers:
It might just be itchiness. When my filly be about 10 months she did that. If its cribbing (eating wood) it might only just be boredom or malnutrition. Foals are usually for a moment mouthy so don't worry roughly it. Make sure a salt block is available for him and that might abet
The only time i saw a horse rub their trunk on something alot was when mine broke her proboscis, and i worked at a barn that had foals.
You might want to ask your vet.
I would suggest have a vet take a look surrounded by his mouth. He should be getting his first set of molars right now, which would label sense why he's rubbing his face, but horses should bring back regular dental care as their teeth are erupting to trade name sure that they are coming in properly, and aren't infected or abcessing. Best of luck near your new young person :)
when my 10 mth old filly started to teeth (sp?) she be very oral and like to chew a lot. it may be because he is teething. i would check beside your vet. good luck and best of wishes!!
u may inevitability to call your vet and see
Good Luck!

He could hold an abcess, I would have a vet look at him for you.
