(REALLY URGENT!!) I hold a 4week prehistoric pup and want guidance on how to nurture him.?
Question: I HAVE JUST RESCUED A 4WEEK OLD PUP AND NEED ADVICE ON FEEDING HIM..
COULD ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS..
Answers:
He should be getting teeth. Feed him canned food first as soon as he can toy with it mix it with easier said than done puppy food. As soon as he is eating the thorny in the mushy slowly start using smaller number canned and more unyielding. Mine are five weeks today and eating adjectives hard. All eight of them. I do still agree to them nurse when mom wants to. Its virtuous for them till next week when they adjectives get spayed/neutered along beside mom.
ADDED!
He does not need formula or milk.
Kitkat he may be too young at heart to be away from his mom but SH*T happens. ALL THE TIME!! He no longer requests to nurse he needs to be weined. People breed dogs nurse much longer than they should. Just like a human infant they get teeth you start giving them finger foods.
Being away from mom and siblings is going to motive behavior problems but he can eat simply fine!
He is way too youthful to be away from his mother. Call your vet and ask him what puppy formula to get at the petstore. You will stipulation to bottlefeed him every couple of hours.
you can buy formula & the bottles to feed him from the pet store...suitable for you to rescue the pup, obviously you be worried enough just about the poor little mite. Hope everything goes ably for you
good pets stores will own milk for pups and bottles this pup will need round the clock feed and just formula milk suitable for pups.
you will be feed him yourself just similar to a baby around 7 to 8 weeks you will start weaning him .
Good luck
Pets at home are right for these items and Jollies (if you have any of these fundamental you)
Ebsilac is a puppy formula that can be found in oodles stores. Our Walmart carries it. You must receive the pup to a vet ASAP as they can give you the best proposal on what this particular pup may involve. Thanx for the rescue! Good luck! Keep the pup warm and receive sure it gets wet to prevent dehydration until you can get to the vet. Don't nurture cow milk. If you have to,goat milk diluted near water works within a pinch for short term. You will call for to stimulate it to poo after eating .You can do this by benignly rubbing a warm drizzling cloth over its anus. This is what the mother dog does. You also need to wipe the eyes beside a warm raining cloth for a few days if they look gooky. Again-please have a vet check this pup over and advocate you.
Go to Your local pet care middle.
where is his mom at also what are you doing near a 4 week pup if you dont know how to take thought of him ?
you'll have to nurture him milk with a bottle, approaching a little newborn, or with an injection, lacking the needle as expected, like you provide medicine to babies (in armour the bottle feeding fails) if you maintain it I'll like to be his goblin godmother
if you go to your local Pet smart shop or pet world they will be capable of advise you. As a provisional measure i would buy unexciting dog food from the supermarket also "Iams" food for puppies though expensive is good and confidently available.
Contact your local vet or animal shelter IMMEDIATELY! You'll need a formula and a regime and probably comparatively a lot of support to begin beside!!
you say 4 weeks older puppy you can try a little bit bad puppy food if that dont work then clutch you r puppy up tp the vets honourable luck
please see a vet. keep me informed on how your getting on.
He is probably competent to eat solid food but i would verbs it with dampen for the next week at lowest possible to make sure he have no injuries or traumatic problems with his gums or teeth. I would use any reputable dog food but form sure you use the puppy choice until he is a year old or something close to that.
Definitely call your vet - they can grant you advice on what will be best. I would utter probablly a high feature puppy food (purina one) that is softened near water. Put a cup or so of dry food within a bowl put some water on it and tolerate it sit 20 minutes until it is soft and squishy. Try to hand nurture him by putting small pieces on your finger and then benignly putting it in his mouth. He may be too young at heart for food, so you really need to call upon a vet. Good luck
You don't need to bottle nurture him, he should be able to devour soft food, but he does still need milk of some sort, get to your local pet store and ask their advice, you can buy substitute bitches milk, you can seize it from your vet. but they will charge you a lot more than the pet shop will! He will want around 6 small feeds 4 milk and cereal of some benign, (baby oat cereal or something like that) weetabix is devout as well but not too much! and no obligation for sugar, the 2 other feeds mix up a VERY Small amount of puppy lunchtime (biscuit) and about a teaspoonful of puppy tinned food also mix surrounded by a small amount of warm boiled river so that it is not quite runny but sloppyish, nurture by 'eye' what I mean by to be precise , if you think he could put away a tiny bit more then make available it but don't overdo things remember his tummy is very small.
Keep your vet informed of what you are doing purely in travel case you need aid!
Good Luck.
EDIT
He will be able to poo and wee lone!
EDIT 2. in covering anyone is in any doubt, surrounded by MY case I found a litter of solitary puppies, the owner of the b1tch had moved and gone the pups in a garage, it sounds close to VitoC has rescued this pup and NOT taken it away from it's mum!
There are a mixture of ways:
1) pet stores have puppy formula and utensils to supplement a pups diet (this is for nutritional purposes, not the entire feeding)
2) use can food and slowly introduce puppy kibble around 6-7 wks, or
3) lift puppy kibble and soak in milk or hose to soften (be sure to throw out what isn't eat and wash the bowl)
Don't hysterics. Although it is definitely still young at heart enough to stipulation mother's milk, pups around 5 weeks can convert to soft puppy food. Just make sure he/she's getting hose intake so it doesn't become dehydrated.
**Since you rescued it, I would recommend taking it to the vet for a check-up. The vet can then make available you different options for feed. The vet may also want to go ahead and bestow it's first shots just to clear sure it stays healthy.
is it a small dog if it is my mother swears by in recent times chicken nothing else but mind your Ps and Qs its hard trying to seize them to eat tinned food again honest luck
This pup is too young to be away from Mommy but ususlly they can resign from Mommy at 6 weeks - 8 weeks. I would feed can puppy formula, and puppy food soaked in a moment or two warm river to soften it. Pup should be fine but, I agree you necessitate to get the puppy to the vet. suitable Luck!
Get to the vet ASAP so they can fix you up with special formula or a surrogate mum all right done for rescuing it
call your vet ASAP he should still be next to his mum
at 4 weeks old he/she should be have some form of solid food not just milk. weatabix near milk is a good start, but it does own to be very soggy (over do it near the milk a bit) invest in a perfect puppy food as well within a week or so he/she should be almost ready for a bit of that, but again produce sure it is moist. bottle feeding is still a appropriate idea but at that age you might be lucky and they will be abel to drink it properly, (feeding really does oscillate on what type of breed)
at the age of 4 weeks the mother would be weaning the pup already. Feeding the pup moist canned dog food should do it. Just be paid sure that the pup is drinking and eating fine. Also please bequeath the pup lots of association with vaccinate friendly dogs-preferrably a family member dog. A dog that leaves the mother before 8 weeks have not been socialized. They swot up this important stage around 6 weeks. Also carry the pup his first set of shots at 7 weeks and get him/her dewormed.
Ask your vet, they should be capable of advise you on feed times and what to actually bestow the pup. Solid food will need to be introduced slowly.
he should be drinking solids by now! when my girl have her litters she started weaning them at two weeks-she would eat her own food and next regurgitate it for them when she went within the basket! this is when i started to nurture them mushy puppy/mince meat and weetabix, she then stopped them from have milk at three weeks and basically hand the little darlings over to me-this is when they started have weetabix/puppy formula for breakfast, a puppy formula meal formerly dinner, mushy meat/soaked puppy biscuits for dinner, another puppy formula before tea, puppy meat/bisciuts for tea and any formula or rice pudding for supper. they all grew up to be blissful and healthy beside big strong bone and big teeth! the dogs were mannish, the girls were feminine-they are lancashire heelers and are small dogs-the dog i kept go on to win a first and second at crufts dog show! so this feeding regime didnt do them any spoil!
ask the vet for advice.seem a bit young to be away from his mother
please whip it back to the mother. Puppies this young-looking should not be taken away from the mother . It needs to be beside the mother until it is a minimum of 8 weeks old.
Ring the RSPCA
nurture it soft food if you get puppy dry food simply soak it in hot river and mash it up it should be fine i get my dog at 4 weeks too that what the vet told me to do
He is a bit young to be away from his mother, but the weaning age is just about 4 weeks, so I would advise you to purchase a accurate quality puppy food, such as Hills Science Plan, Royal Canin puppy, Eukanuba puppy, and purchase a puppy milk substitute such as lactol or welpi. He should be reception milk substitute every 6 hours or so, (usually start off at birth every 2 hours, later drop down to every 3, then 4 etc), so meed him formula every 6 hours, and one of the feed, offer puppy food instead of milk. You will requirement to show him how to eat, may enjoy to mash the food up and put it within his mouth to show him. Also see if he will lap the formula milk from a saucer. As he get used to eating, unhurriedly replace milk meals next to food meals till he is on roughly speaking 5 -6 meals of puppy food a light of day by 6 weeks old.
Initially, after respectively milk meal, you will involve to stimulate him to go to the toilet by kind-heartedly wiping his bottom beside warm, damp cotton wool, as naturally his mother would do this by licking the puppies bottoms after feed. As he grows he'll learn to do this for himself.
Good luck xxx
my mum have to bottle feed one of my dogs pups years ago, she feed him babys milk warm from a bottle, he turned out adjectives right in the conclude, he's now 9 years feeble and he's a big belter so dont worry merely make sure the puppy is getting lots of drinks and he'll be fine x
WHAT on Earth are you doing near a 4 week old pup? Don't you know they shouldn't give their mothers until at least 8 weeks? Get it to the Vet on the double, it will almost certainly entail specialist care.
