5 year hoary feminine cat and and a unknown friend ??
Question: i have a 5 year outmoded female cat and be thinking about getting her a different play mate. Dus anyone no the best way to do this??

If she's used to self on her own she may not take compassionately to the introduction of a new cat, especially a kitten. Adult cats tend to be frightened of them. If however she is used to have other cats around just gain another one and see how they go, how in good health they get along is as much down to self-worth as anything else.
get her a topical kitten, a kitten would not threaten her status in the home to her.
close up your 5 year hoary in your bedroom for a couple of year so the kitten can spread his sent around, this allows the older one to win use to it in a sheltered place.
i say manly ( both fixed) to avoid problems later.

Hmmm, it's hard to articulate whether the newcomer and your cat would get along. We "adopted" two cats a few years ago who didn't know respectively other. We kept them separated for a few days and gradually introduced them. There be a little hissing and slapping, consequently they became the best of friends. A few months ago, we took surrounded by a stray. It's proven a little harder for the first two to adopt the third cat, and vice versa, but now they tolerate respectively other although they're not friends. (They're all females, btw).
So sometimes the hoary cat welcomes a hot friend, and sometimes it takes rather longer.
i did the same except my cats a mannish and his new friend be a male also..bring back the cat as a kitten so that way contained by can grow up with your 5 year old-fashioned cat..that makes it easier for them to attain along.first hold the kitten so your cat can smell its hind quarters...and slowly own her spend time with the kitten..but dont give notice them alone untill the kitten is old plenty to defend itself
If you want another cat ask to loan from your rescue foundation or local vets a shut within. You can keep the modern recruit contained by there until the cats become acustomed to respectively other. Then let them out together for supervised playtime until they procure on together. It will take much time and mercy but it will be worth it in the long possession. Be aware that some cats are just not socialable but most are and will live together gladly.

cats are extremely territorial pets. especially females that have be the only pet contained by the house for any amount of time. Definitely talk to your vet past trying to introduce another cat, especially a kitten. There are many technique for introducing cats, some work with some cats... other cats will never pinch nicely to another graceful in the house. I own found that it was much easier to introduce my cat to dogs than it be to introduce her to other cats. Eventually she learned to socialize near humans around the dogs. When with other cats, she refuse to use the litter box if the other cat went within it. She also wouldn't sit on my lap or play. So consider your cat's nature, reasearch ideas online, and settle to your vet.

I am more or less 3 months into a very similar situation! I own a 5 year old womanly and brought home a 9 month old womanly that I rescued from work. Be prepared for it to take months previously peace is restored to your home! At least if your elder cat is as spoiled as mine is!
I introduced them somewhat slowly - I only have 3 days at home before I have to go rear legs to work - so I did rush it a little. I kept the kitten contained by a spare room and just have them out together for a short time the first light of day. Then a little longer respectively day - however I did hold on to the kitten in the spare room at darkness. Figured all 3 of us could use the sleep!
When I have to go put money on to work I took the chance and not here them out together. They didn't kill respectively other nor was any of them injured when I came home that dark!
They are still working out their "pecking order" - the problem is the little one still has her claws and the big one is de-clawed. So, the little one is starting to rule and that doesn't sit resourcefully with the elder one. Should be interesting to see what happens as time go by.
If your cat is like mine be - bored, fat, and idle, then the addendum of a kitten would be a good concept - if you have the mercy for it!
