12 year ripened feminine dog beside bladder infection & confusion?
Question: My 12 year old womanly dog currently has a bladder infection and is on time 2 of her antibiotic treatment. However she is bahaving very strange close to she is confused all the time. Like going to the side of a door that does not widen and just standing within even when we then overt the door or just standing up close and staring at the fridge and wall for ages until we hurry her out of her 'trance'. I know with elderly humans near urinary infections they present as being confused and disoriantated. Does anyone own any experience of this type of behaviour surrounded by a dog with urinary problems?

yes urinary infections can effect dementia type problems exactly the same as beside people, it should stop as the treatment starts to work
I have no experience near this what so ever, but I say : Shoot the *****. Thats approaching 84 yrs old & you tolerate the poor animal stand around in a trance. Yeah, nice race.
Well, she is 12 years old. Don't forget, within her years, she's an old female. My mum's Golden Retriever did the same. When we used to unseal the back door for her to progress in the garden she used to pay for away, like she be scared of something. She go senile bless her, so we had to put her to sleep. BUT that doesn't mingy that this is what's happening to your dog. Antibiotics steal a couple of days to kick within don't forget. It's probably just a side effect. Take her fund to the Vets if you are worried.
The poor thing is 12.. to be precise old for a dog. It is downhill from very soon on, I'm afraid. Have her put down.
Yes dogs loose brain cells when they go and get old and the bladder infection itself may merely have PO"d your dog. That could generate her act up or different.
I dream up that if you are worried or unsure then you should purely call the vet and ask him if her routine is normal for a dog next to this condition.
And yes, elderly people do attain quite confused when they procure UTI's, but they can also get comparatively cranky and nasty, so be appreciative your dog doesn't have those symptoms.
Your dog is not THAT aged. She is just developed, that's all...lol
My dog is 15 and 3 months outmoded...and is just starting to show signs of senility, but it's unequivocally not a reason to put her down...because she still eat and loves her walks and plays around thinking she is still a puppy sometimes.
Just hold on to her on the tablets and consult the dogter after New Year.
I don't think that it is the medication that is cause the unusual behavior. I have a puppy that we save from the shelter with a UTI. We put her on the medication and she be a little, shall we vote, transic! I think that when dogs are mortified or sick, they just do what make them feel better. They really basically don't know what is going on and are mostly confused.
My daughter has newly experienced the same next to her 9 month lab. urine infection, put on antibiotics, she foned me and told me her dog was acting strange, duplicate as what you have mentioned, confused, walking to wrong side of the doors, and things simply exactly the same as you, how wierd. She is in a minute back to middle-of-the-road and fully recovered after finishing her biotics. So I wouldnt worry. It does come about - obviously, but it be the 1st time I had hear when my daughter foned me worried.
My cross Border Collie/ Spaniel, Ric, behaved contained by a similar way simply before he be diagnosed with liver and kidney end. It could be the build up of toxins that is cause the dog to be confused. Ric, short for Eric, of course, be on drugs for a week but we had to enjoy him put down. Broke my heart and I'm a 50ish retired cop who has see it all! New dog Boston The Border Collie, BBC to his friends, arrived nearly 8 months after Ric and he's a cracker. Please don't prolong the dog's life if she is suffering. Death near dignity is the better option. Ric died surrounded by my arms.
