16 month frail next to a extraordinarily chesty cough but..?

Question:
My 16 month old come back from a caribbean holiday beside a very chesty cough. She does not give the impression of being to be in any distress but my hubby is worried it might be CROUP?

Answers:
I WOULD CALL YOUR DOCTOR UP RIGHT AWAY AND TELL HIM WHAT IS GOING ON WITH YOUR SON, ASAP. HOPE HE IS FEELING WELL SOON.
Any weakness following a foreign trip should be checked out by a doctor. Tell him where you go.
I would call the doctor, but if it is croup, put her within a room with lots of steam. you can do that by running a hot tub and stay in nearby with her. As other make sure she stays away from the hot river.
Call the doctor 1st tho to be sure.
Sometimes even when you or I go on time off we can come back near numerous symptoms. It may just be the evolution of environment. Give it a couple days and if it worsens call a pediatrician.
progress to the er and have the child checked out
Yes it could be but it also could be pnuemonia. My son a short time ago got over that and that's what he have. But it could be just a convert in weather. I would cart her to the doctor and get her checked out especially if she is running a disorientation. I used Triaminc congestion for kids for my 16 month old and it worked really okay. But to be safe budge to the doc.
u should definately take her to the doctors. it could be a chest infection that requires antibiotics, or it could be even something close to asthma. no point in disappearing it, it could get worse. hope she feel better soon. x
Hi there,
I'm no doctor, but i am a father and similar to yourselves i'd be concerned too. If you have access to a local form centre? ring them as there is useually a creature on duty or they'll give you a contact phone number, If, and singular if you are pretty sure there's nothing to be too concerned just about ? CALPOL for juniors is helpfull for helping the child sleep and comfort through the hours of darkness, plus it'll also help near any temperature she may own.
BUT most importantly, get the child medical attention as soon as possible, even if you own to call out a G.P.(general practitioner) especially since you've a moment ago returned from abroad.
Hope alls economically, regards
Caddie
Go ahead and phone up your pediatrician. There should be a nurse who is able to ring you back and they should know how to let you know if you necessitate to have the doctor see your toddler. For me, my personal experience when my daughter have a cough I took her to see the doctor and they said she had a cold and wouldn't prescribe anything for it. That happen 3 or 4 times. Call the doctor's office and the doc or nurse should consent to you know what to do. I think that here is some cough medicine you can grant your toddler, put on a vaporizer and let him/her obtain plenty of rest and that should help. Still, a doctor would hold to tell you the correct dosage if you are to administer any medicine.
Yeas it could be croup, but that would be the most minuscule of my worries! Make an appointment with the dr! Its other best to check these things out especially with youthful children.
My Thoughts are. there probably isn't anything to verbs bout BUT its ALWAYS best to consult a doctor in these matter. It may be just a annoyance cough needing treatment but don't risk it!
Call NHS24
It is better to be on the not dangerous side.
If it is croup then a hot steam enviorment will relieve to ease the coughing.
Croup have a barking cough and within severe case may stipulation inhalers or steriods, but usually the hot steamy enivorment helps
We be just in attendance at Christmas - our son got sick in that actually. here are some question:

1. Is it wet or dry>?
2. Does it appear a shortness for breath, or a cold cough (phlegmy?)
3. Is the rib-cage visually being sucked within for breathing?
4. Does it sound close to a barking thud?

If it is wet - bestow it alone, it means the cough is moving the crap out (could be only just the difference in nouns quality/humidity/allergens in the upper air - new stuff for baby)
If it is a shortness of breath, consider asthma. It may be an acute armour and just requirement some help to start on the passageways in the lungs. It is adjectives after different climates are experienced.
If it sounds like bark - hit the doctors office - it might be croup. usually a perfect dose of ventolin will help next to that.
If it is dry with no shortness of breath - try a cold humidifier - it might do the trick!
Good Luck!
Any time a child that childlike has that type of symptom it other requires a trip the doctors as soon as possible. All pediatricians will tell you they would a bit you err on the side of caution.

Don't continue to see if she starts to appear in distress. Bring her as soon as possible newly to be safe. Croupy-ness isn't anything to fool around near.
It could be a weather change, but I wouldnt filch any chances your child is still babyish enough to get hold of RSV witch can be really serious. Also the dad with the little boy who have pnomia has a point and a weather redeploy can even bring it on. Crup is dicribed in a little one medical dictionary that the peditrition gave me when I first have my kids as a barking type cough. Its also a dark time thing. If that is to say his syptoms take him into a bathroom close the door and turn the shower on as hot as you can take it and sit in here with him until it lessen. and call th doctor!
