Question:
how would i calculate this?

A copper public house is 400mm long and has a diameter of 90mm. Calculate the volume of this pub. the bar is melt down and made into washers 3.5mm thick near an internal diamter of 17mm and an external diameter of 28mm. Calculate the volume of each washer. how abundant washers would you be able to net from the one bar?

Thanks soooo much!

Answers:
Since this looks similar to Math homework. This is how YOU can do it.
The volume of a round bar (a rod surrounded by fact) is the area of the close times it's length. And the area of the (circular) shutting of the rod you can work out from the formula A= pi x r x r

A means Area ; pi is a moment ago a number which is about 3.14 (there is a special switch on your calculator which will put in the right advantage for you. It will have the Greek dispatch pi on it. I don't have the right symbol on my grand piano but it looks a bit like a set of goalposts) ; and r is the radius of the cicular completion (the radius is half of the diameter, which you be given)

So V (the volume of copper) = pi x r x r x L (L is the length of the rod.
Remember to hold all the measurements contained by millimetres, then the volume will be contained by cubic millimetres.

Now for the washers :
Imagine a stack of those washers - it's really just like peas in a pod as a great big rod with a smaller rod removed from inside it to produce the hole, then cut into slices respectively slice just 3.5 mm long. So we are really still working next to rods aren't we?
The volume of one washer is the volume of the imaginary big rod we would produce it from minus the volume of the smaller rod we would remove to make the hole.

V = (pi x R xR x L) - (pi x r x r x L)

pi is still one and the same as in the ealier formula, R is the External Radius ( not diameter remember), and r is the internal radius of the washers we are wanting to trade name.
Once you have worked out the volume of copper you enjoy from melting down the handrail you started with, and you know how much copper it take to make one washer, I guess you can integer out with no trouble how lots washers you can make.

I hope that help.
volume of copper bar=pi*45^2*400
vol of 1 washer=pi(R+r)(R-r)*t
=pi(14+8.5)(14-8.5)*3.5
no of washers=volumeof bar/volume of 1 washer
=pi*45^2*400/pi*22.5^6.5*3.5
