"That's one small step for Man..one giant leap for Mankind" When Neil Armstrong spoke these words they were not what he intended to read out and if fact, clear no sense for "Man" and "Mankind" are one and the same point.

Unfortunately for Mr Armstrong he omitted the 'a' before Man and so changed the together meaning of the statement...for what he designed to say be..."That's one small step for a man...one giant leap for Mankind". ..perhaps he be a little excited for some justification or another.
Well allegedly Neil Armstrong but if the conspiracy theorists are correct this opportunity is still open.
Commander NEIL ARMSTRONG, - who stepped OUT of the lunar module, "EAGLE", - which HAD be part of the HUGE "SATURN V" rocket, designated as "APOLLO 11" near the words:- "IT'S ONE SMALL STEP, FOR A MAN, - ONE GIANT LEAP, FOR MANKIND!", - in the rash hours, (US time), of 21 JULY, 1969!
